The Suited Monk Clarity System
The Life Journey Model is a visual representation of the journey every human being moves through, from living mainly in the outer world toward alignment between outer life and inner truth. It was created by Raf Adams as part of the Suited Monk philosophy.
It is not a self-improvement programme and not a religious teaching. It is a map. It shows you where you are, so you are no longer lost inside your own life.

What the drawing shows
The model maps two arcs across one life, from birth to death.
The upper arc is the external journey, the Suit (mind and ego). It moves through building, achievement, external mission, and outer success. Along the way it can pass through excitement, negative emotions, unhappiness, fake love, burnout, and crisis. This is the life other people can see.
The lower arc is the internal journey, the Monk (spirit and heart). It moves through trust, positive emotion, flow, true love, life purpose, awakening, and a quieter life reward. This is the inner world that often stays unnamed until something forces attention inward.
Between the two arcs sits the Gap. The Gap is the distance between outer performance and inner truth. In the drawing it appears where awareness and healing begin to matter: the body is still climbing the outer arc while something quieter pulls toward the inner one.
Separation sits with the Suit side. Oneness sits with the Monk side. Awareness and healing are the movements that close the distance.
The journey is not about abandoning the outer world. It is about aligning the internal and outer worlds so they point the same way.
How to read it
Look at the model the way you would look at a landscape before you walk it.
Ask:
- Am I more on the outer journey or the inner journey right now?
- Where do I feel a gap between my outer life and my inner truth?
- Which part of the drawing feels familiar in my body, not only in my mind?
You may sit clearly in one place, or feel several at once. That is normal. The stages are a landscape, not a ladder you climb once.
The five stages
The Life Journey Model describes the movement in five stages. They are recognisable territories, not rigid boxes.
- Living in the Suit — success, roles, performance, and a growing quietness inside.
- The Gap — suffering, crisis, emptiness, or burnout as a wake-up call.
- Turning Inward — the Monk begins to wake; the questions change.
- Alignment — the Suit becomes guided by the Monk.
- Fulfilment, love and flow — outer and inner working together; success and peace stop being opposites.
Where this model came from
Raf Adams did not create the Life Journey Model by studying philosophy first. He created it by trying to survive his own life across countries and cultures. Only afterward did he recognise the same journey in Jung, Campbell, Frankl, Rumi, and other teachers across traditions. The model was designed to work beyond any religion, culture, or belief system. Every person has a Suit, a Monk, and a Gap.
