Career Transition Coaching: Close the Gap Between Work and Who You Are
Career change that includes who you are, not just what you do next.

Most career advice starts and ends on LinkedIn. Update the CV, polish the headline, network harder, land the next role. That's the external journey, and it matters. But if that's the only journey you take, I reckon you'll end up with a new title and the same restlessness a year later.
Real career transition links the internal journey with the external one. Your values, your identity, what actually lights you up. Leave that out and you're just swapping one suit for another.
Why the Rational Path Isn't Enough
The rational side asks: What skills do I have? What pays? What's the next logical step up? Good questions. They're just not the whole picture.
A lot of people chase the next role for external validation. The bigger title, the better company name, the approving nod at dinner parties. Then they arrive and it feels kinda hollow. Nothing was wrong with the job. The decision was made from the outside in.
Career transition coaching with me works from the inside out. We get clear on who you are first, then build the external move around that. Your worth comes from being, not doing. Once that clicks, the career decisions get a lot simpler.

The Suit, the Monk and the Gap
We all wear a Suit: the role, the title, the version of us that performs at work. Underneath is the Monk: the part of you that knows what matters. The distance between the two is the Gap.
The Suit
Career, title, performance, what the world sees. Useful — until it becomes the whole story.
The Gap
Burnout, boredom, Sunday-night dread, living someone else's life. A career change is a rare chance to close it.
The Monk
Values, identity, what actually lights you up. Start here, then build the outer move.
I learned this the hard way — fired, rebuilt, lived and worked across China, Spain and Australia. Outer change only stuck when the inner work came with it. More in practical philosophy.

Career Transition Coaching FAQ
How is this different from a regular career coach?
Most career coaches focus on the external journey: CVs, interviews, LinkedIn. I cover that too, but we start with the internal journey, so the move you make actually fits who you are.
I just lost my job. Is it too soon for coaching?
Not at all. The weeks after a layoff are often when people see the Gap most clearly. Rushing into the next similar role is the most common mistake.
Am I too old for a career change at 40 or 50?
No. You bring decades of being you. The question isn't age, it's whether the next chapter is built on your values or on external validation.
Do you only coach in Sydney?
I coach in Sydney and online, with clients across Australia and internationally.
How long does a career transition take?
It varies. Clarity often comes within a few sessions; the external move follows at your pace.
