About the Author

Hi, my name is Raf Adams, I’m an entrepreneur, executive coach and author of The Suited Monk and Suited Monk Leadership. I am co-founder of GLO (Good Leaders Online), a consulting firm specializing in workshops, recruitment and leadership with a specific focus on helping people manage change and improve collaboration.

Originally from Belgium, I worked in China for 12 years, from 2006 to 2018, working for an international shipping company. In 2008, I changed my career towards coaching and training.

The Suited Monk itself is an International Brand. I have a successful 10-year career record conducting workshops with the Suited Monk, and with my books in the Asian market and now in Spain and America. I am a speaker at International Universities such as CEIBS (China Europe International Business School), I work with corporate clients around the world such as British Petrol, GAP, Barco, OCBC Bank, Basf, Philips, Mead Johnson, Bayer, Henkel, Carrefour. My articles have been published in The Economist Intelligence Unit, Forbes India and Korea Times.

My book The Suited Monk is translated into English, Spanish and Chinese. It was published with great success in Spain in 2019 and we are planning the publication in Latin America through Amat editorial.

My story:
From 12 to 27 years old, I suffered with feelings of insecurity, frustration and unhappiness. My profession in Transportation and Logistics began to lose meaning and purpose both professionally and in my personal life. During the financial crisis, living in Hong Kong in 2008 I was affected by this crisis.

That was the trigger where I experienced an awakening, I was aware of the peace that was born in me; freeing myself from my Suit, from the emotional burden that this profession carried me; but I experienced a very big fear, which today I can say was the uncertainty of not knowing which way to go in my career and life.

I was 27 years old, and I felt now is the time of doing something different in my life. I begain listening to my intuition, but being unaware that I was being guided by my heart.
Gradually I found my new purpose and a new mission in my work and in my life, to help resolve negative emotions, suffering and find happiness, love and purpose on

 

the journey. That is why I dedicate myself to businessmen, to large companies that carry a lot of responsibility, who fight for business success, accompanying them in

the process of aligning their Suit success with their interior, with their Monk happiness. Sometimes it is not necessary to lose, to change radically, or sometimes simply to align and feel what we must do to achieve real success by closing the Gap.

For this reason, I developed the model of the journey of life ® to help others achieve what I had learned: to live a life, which integrates the spirit with the multiple facets of everyday life. This model appears in my book The Suited Monk adapted for the first time in paper format to share this powerful message and help others so that they can discover their true selves and benefit from their gifts and talents. They are clear and practical instructions to follow to apply in today’s life and enjoy the

immediate results.

I have a team of coaches where we teach workshops, retreats and courses for facilitators. I currently reside in Barcelona since 2018.

Dr. Mike Thompson

Mike is Professor of Management Practice at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai and former Director of its Centre for Responsible Leadership. He also serves as Director on the Board of ‘GoodBrand’, a UK based specialist international consultancy with 15 years experience developing sustainability strategies that focus on creating shared value for many Fortune 500 companies.

The Suited Monk GAP check-up is designed by Dr Mike J. Thompson and informed by his wise leadership research at CEIBS (China Europe International Business School) 2010–13. He has interviewed 196 C-Suite leaders globally, researching the attribute of a ”wise leader.’’ (Mike is a visiting professor at CEIBS, an adjunct professor at the Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria, BC and co-author of Suited Monk Leadership.)

Miquel Canut

Miquel Canut is an Entrepreneur and the founder of Veltia hand dryers. He holds several patents for new hand drying systems and exports his products to over 85 countries. He has established factories in Venezuela, Morocco, South Africa and commercial offices in South Korea and China. He is an active member of his community and since 2008 has been Member of the board for the Sabadell Chamber of Commerce.

Miquel is often invited to speak to companies and events on subjects of: Entrepreneurship, Business Growth and Internationalization, and Developing Businesses with Social Values.

He also serves as a Board Member for a non-profit organization distributing food to over 2,300 struggling families in Sabadell and is Rotary Club Member – previous president from 2013-2014.

Miquel is a firm believer of living life and doing business for the common good. He has been actively integrating his spirit and purpose in daily life, relationships and business. For the past 14 years he has been coaching and mentoring people to help them find their purpose in life and realize their true potential.

Pere Marced

Pere is a Change Agent and the founder of Fractal Change – a company that facilitates personal growth and self-awareness. He has over 16 years experience working with Amazonian plants including ayahuasca. Since 2015, Pere has been running various workshops and coaching sessions for groups and individuals throughout Shanghai, Beijing, and Barcelona including the Amazonian Emotional Process, Ecstatic Dance, and the Emotional Breathing Process.

Pere is an ICC Certified Master Coach and holds a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management and Marketing. Before devoting his work full-time to Fractal Change, Pere worked as an Overseas Business Development Manager in a Chinese corporation and previously served as an Executive Director and Overseas Business Manager in a consulting company with offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Spain.

Pere is fluent in English, Spanish, Catalan, and Portuguese, conversational in Italian and has a basic knowledge of Mandarin. As a trainer, Pere aims to facilitate participants’ emotional healing and self-awareness by drawing on his wealth of knowledge, education, and years of experience working with Amazonian plant medicine.

Kristina Liu

Kristina is an ICF certified executive coach and life coach, as well as the owner of a lodge and retreat center in the Amazon Jungle, Peru where she hosts holistic life transformation programs. Kristina is passionate about unleashing human potential and elevating human consciousness through a variety of approaches such as coaching, workshops, plant medicine, yoga, meditation, mindfulness, healthy eating, and getting in touch with nature.

Kristina is a Chinese-born-American who has a passion for travel and learning about cultures around the world. Prior to becoming a coach and business owner, she worked 14 years in multinational companies in the US and Singapore holding a variety of positions ranging from strategy and marketing to business improvement and portfolio management. Kristina holds Bachelor and Master degrees in Accounting, an MBA, and is finishing her dissertation in a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D).

Peter Buytaert

Peter Buytaert builds on more than twenty five years of Global and Asia executive management, leadership and entrepreneurial experience and is currently co-founder and Chief Responsibility Officer of GLO – Good Leaders Online

He served as Chairman for three consecutive years of the Benelux Chamber of Commerce (Bencham) of Shanghai.

Peter is a truly global citizen with a unique track record in cross cultural people leadership, start-up and business strategy, as well as driving change in organizations across Asia and China in particular.

Prior to his entrepreneurial career, Peter was responsible for Agfa Graphics regional sales and operations as its President Asia.

Before making Shanghai his base, he resided successively in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Seoul, with extensive project time spent in India.

He followed an undergraduate program of Law, prior to graduating with a Master in Commercial Engineering (“Handelsingenieur”) at EHSAL Brussels and followed the INSEAD Advanced Management Program, as well as Strategic Business Economics Program at the University of Asia and the Pacific in Manila.

Ray

In 1997, Ray was a co-founder of First Place Consulting, a top 100 UK Management Consultancy with an extensive network of relationships with directors in UK organisations.  The company worked with clients to ensure the highest standards of performance were sustained at all levels that impacted the customer experience, using a framework of fundamental principles for management, collectively know as “Heart and Soul Management®”. Adopted by a number of leading organisations in financial services, it enables management teams to create working environments with high standards of excellence, to enhance the experience of customers, staff, employers and shareholders.  More critically, it is also enables the construction of a robust business case to justify investments in developing management talent. First Place Consulting was acquired by Katila in March 2008.

Ray has an outstanding reputation for integrity and successfully applying fundamental principles in business. He is currently living in Asia and working independently in a coaching and consulting role.  He has numerous clients and is an accomplished writer and speaker on management and leadership issues.  He has served as a judge for several annual industry awards that recognise excellence in organisations.

He is 51 years old, a frequent traveller and avid fundraiser. In 2009, he completed the New York Marathon (as a novice) and raised over $15,000 for worthwhile causes in Asia. Other interests and hobbies include reading, film-making, music, acting, soccer and motor cycling.

Larry has over 13 years of working experience as engineer, sales, marketing, business manager, sales director and general manager for both state owned company, private company and multinational companies. Larry has ever worked for CNPC, UTC, Fenner Group, ITT, Linatex, Weir Group,  Jiangsu CAS and Kimrah in Petroleum refinery, international trading, Mining, Rubber, Manufacturing and Consulting industries.

Larry has been driving himself very hard, as many of us, for career success which has finally undermined his balance of personal life and professional life. Larry started his life reflection day by day since Dec. 2008. To start a new life journey, Larry immigrated from Shanghai China to Perth Australia with his family in Feb 2009. This shift made him to see the big difference of life style, quality and philosophy between oriental and western countries. Larry quitted his job with Weir as sales director for Weir Mineral China in Feb 2011 and started his new career as a professional life coach. True is a trainer, consultant and executive coach with ten years of experience working with international organizations.

True grew up in the United States and has lived in greater China for the past 14 years. He is based in Taipei and travels frequently to Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and other cities in the region for his coaching and training work.
